Nursery, Landscaping, and Soil Control Applications
Shade Tree’s ground cover fabric is 100% black polypropylene and resistant to deterioration by ultraviolet rays. Use it to control weeds and to prevent soil erosion. Our ground cover fabric lets water pass through to prevent water puddling, and is extremely durable: you can walk and work on it without tearing or puncturing the fabric. Shade Tree’s ground cover fabric can be used for a variety of purposes:
Commercial Nurseries
In commercial nursery applications, Shade Tree’s ground cover fabric is used inside green houses for placing nursery stock and plant containers on the inside of greenhouses and outside in can yards and container fields. It provides a clean, weed and grass free environment thereby saving hours of costly labor or the use of chemicals to control unwanted vegetative growth. Our ground cover fabric lets moisture pass through it to prevent water puddling and helps keep plant containers free of subsoil to provide a healthy growing environment and increased profits.
Because Shade Tree’s ground cover fabric is very durable, staff and crews can walk on the ground cover without damaging it. Our ground cover fabric’s durability and solar-resistance means that it is also reusable and thereby extremely cost-effective: just roll it up at the end of a growing season and store it until the next growing cycle.
Landscaping Weed Control
Shade Tree’s ground cover fabric controls the growth of weeds and grass in landscaped areas. Because it is semi-permeable and lets water pass through, it resists water puddling. Our ground cover fabric is extremely durable so that you can walk on it without undue concern for tearing or puncturing the fabric. Since the fabric is 100% polypropylene, it provides a permanent protective layer and will not rot or decompose – making it a cost-effective tool for private and commercial landscaping applications.
It is also a very easy fabric to work with: you can cut it with ordinary household scissors. The somewhat abrasive surface of the fabric helps to prevent the slippage of decorative materials (such as pine needles or bark) when used on slopes or uneven ground surfaces.
Using Shade Tree’s ground cover fabric lets you enjoy your landscaping without the need for constant weeding. Lets you turn problematic, marginal areas – such as those covered with poison oak or ivy – into weed-free manicured beds or decorative areas without ongoing, time consuming weeding.
Note: On steep slopes, you may wish to anchor the fabric at the top of a slope to help prevent the ground cover from slipping. Anchors can be, for example, decorative rock or metal rods driven into the ground.
Soil Control
Shade Tree’s ground cover fabric controls soil erosion and helps to stabilize steep banks. Use our ground cover fabric along graded stream beds, shore lines, levees, lake or pond embankments, and steep slopes. It is also an excellent fabric for areas where sod or other types of plantings used to prevent erosion, can not be employed.
Select our ground cover fabric to stabilize areas where vegetation cannot grow due to environmental elements such as wind, water runoff, rodent damage, or wave action.
